CRNDEC-12 Multi-Mode Decoder
The CRN Multi-Mode Decoder (CRNDEC-12) decodes CRN Blink-of-an-Eye data signals and provides an RS-232 output of the decoded data to interface with external serial devices.The CRNDEC-12 is available in two configurations; a full-length, 8-bit card for use in PC compatible computers or a stand alone slave model with screw terminals for connection to an external 12VDC source. Both models utilize factory programmable microprocessor based plug-in decode modules which will enable the user to upgrade the unit for future CRN data formats. The built in RS-232 interface allows for connection to a wide variety of external serial devices. In addition, the PC model utilizes the data bus and CRN software to provide a signal level reading of decoded signals.
The RS-232 port is a DTE (Data Terminal Equipment) type with a 25-pin male "D" connector and is attached to external serial devices with a standard serial cable.
Connection to the CRN RF Receiver or other audio source (leased telephone line, etc.) is made with a supplied 6-conductor RJ type modular cable. The CRNDEC-12 provides 12VDC power to the CRN RF Receiver, with a user replaceable and software supervised (PC model) fuse on board. The other conductors of the cable are used to carry audio, ground and carrier detect signals.
The optional software (CRNSOFT) for the PC model allows for transmitter identity re-mapping, transmitter code re-mapping, supervised host computer RS-232 output, parallel line printer output, RF receiver supervision, audio speaker volume control, site (repeater) location identity and decoded signal RF level indication.
A built-in amplifier drives an on board speaker allowing the user to monitor the input audio and provides audio output to the optional CRN Listen Module (see reverse). Visual indication of carrier detect (CD), received signal level, RS-232 handshaking and relay operation is provided by on board LED indicators.

CRNRUHF & CRNRVHF RF Receiver
The crystal controlled CRN RF Receiver is available in UHF (CRNRUHF) and VHF (CRNRVHF) models, and provides the RF interface between CRN Alarm Transmitters and the CRN Multi-Mode Decoder.The UHF models are available with Narrow Band FM (+7.5kHz bandwidth) or Very Narrow Band FM (+5kHz bandwidth) filters. VHF models are available with Narrow Band FM (+7.5KHz bandwidth) filters. The receiver features flat, broadband demodulated audio frequency response of 10Hz to 3KHz, which is optimized for the CRN Blink-of-an-Eye data format, fast attack time, low power consumption and a GaAs FET front end for high sensitivity and low intermod. When used in high RF environments, front end band-pass cavity filters are recommended.

CRNCU7 Call-Up Listen-In Device
The CRN Call-Up Listen-In Device (CRNCU7) couples an audio source, such as the CRN RF Receiver to a standard dial-up telephone line to allow remote audio diagnosis of CRN Alarm Transmitter signals.An installer can call the CRNCU7 from an ordinary telephone and listen to CRN Blink-of-an-Eye data signals as they are received at the receive site. Satisfactory, marginal or poor signals are easily distinguished, allowing for immediate relocation of the CRN Alarm Transmitter when necessary.
The unit is powered from 12V AC or DC, and connects to the telephone line via a standard modular jack. An internal jumper selects a maximum call time of 1 to 10 minutes.
